About Taste of the Teign

Taste of the Teign showcases REALLY local food, drink and hospitality along the Teign Estuary, from Teignmouth to Newton Abbot and surrounding villages.

We are Devon’s most extensive food festival with nine days of exciting events from 23 September to 1 October 2017, and the only one that repeatedly takes you behind the scenes. Each event is designed to allow you to savour truly local foods, find out more about them, the environment and the people who produce them.

Our local food culture along the Teign Estuary is to be envied. We have especially rich history and traditions, as well as productive agriculture and fishery systems, unique in the world.

From our famed red soils come barley for brewing, grapes for wine, apples for cider, our lush pastures produce amazing beef and lamb, our farmers grow healthy vegetables. From the Teign River come mussels, oysters and fish, including the odd salmon. Crabs, mackerel and sprats are landed daily at the fish quay in Teignmouth. We truly have it all from farm to fork. We want to celebrate and share with you.

Now in its third year the Festival is packing in more events, and taking in more of the
beautiful estuary. It takes a great team working year round to voluntarily create this food and drink
festival for your benefit. If you meet any of us, be sure to give us your feedback on the festival. We
want to make it not just the biggest, but the best.
